One of the strengths of this Revolution Pro Controller 3 is undoubtedly the extreme customization. On the back of the box we find an exhaustive description of all the main features. The absence of motion sensors should be noted, which makes it unusable with some games that specifically require them and with virtual reality. The four buttons and the trackpad, also made of well-made plastic, make for a good tactile sensation. The construction materials used are of a premium level: the body of the controller is made of rigid plastic of excellent workmanship, resistant to shocks and time, the upper part of the analog sticks is in rubber of remarkable quality with the left one having a relief texture honeycomb for an improved grip while on the right one the characteristic Nacon logo depicting a snake is always printed in relief. The handles can be opened in the lower part with a simple sliding movement revealing a compartment each, both intended for housing the weights that allow you to change the weight of the controller to your liking.Įrgonomics are excellent and firm at all times also thanks to the knurling present in the lower part of the two handles, giving the feeling of absolute control over the controls during gaming sessions, which is essentially what we expect from a product in this range. The equipment is closed by a sliding “mode” button to change the mode of use from “PS4 base” to “PS4 advanced” to “PC mode”, a clickable “profile” for the selection of profiles both located in the lower part of the controller and a 3.5 mm jack for connecting headphones on the front. In the inner part of the two handles we find instead two extra buttons for each and located so that they can be used with the tips of the little finger and ring finger. Also in the upper part we find the characteristic trackpad of Sony’s dualshock, a central button with the Playstation logo, four LEDs each indicating the mode in use and finally the “options” and “share” buttons.Īt the rear there are the inevitable buttons L1 and R1 and the two triggers L2 and R2. The latter, as well as the directional cross, are concave for greater adherence to the fingertips and have a width of 46 ° while the four buttons with the cross, triangle, square and circle printed on them are large and easily accessible. The design is very reminiscent of the XBox joypad and not only in the shapes: the controller is of the asymmetrical type, that is, it has the analog sticks staggered in height with the one for the left thumb located higher than the one for the right one, continuing the ergonomic philosophy of previous models. Then we naturally find the controller and a container with small weights both inserted in their housings on the “low” side of the same while on the “open” side there is a retina attached to the same that contains a three-meter long USB cable of the braided type and a cleaning cloth. Once opened inside we find a sturdy protective fabric case with zipper closure that contains and protects the controller thanks to the rigid core with which it is made, a solution specially designed for greater ease and safety in transport. The box in which the controller is sold is made of thick cardboard and is very solid, an aspect that may seem marginal but which highlights the extreme care that the French house places even in the smallest details. The connection to your favorite gaming peripheral can only take place via a cable with a USB Type-C port, a clear sign of the fact that this Revolution Pro 3 is a product designed for gamers who they aim at competitive gaming, also by virtue of the price at which it is offered on Amazon which is around 110 euros but certainly does not prevent the casual player from buying, who still aims at a varied customization of the game controls. The famous saying “there is no two without three” fits perfectly with the release of this new gamepad by Nacon made in collaboration with Big Ben Interactive, a premium high-end product and compatible for use with Playstation 4 and PC exactly like its two illustrious predecessors, the Pro Controllers 1 and 2.
